Michael Phelps to retire after 2012 Olympics

Posted:

BALTIMORE  (WKOW) – U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps says he plans to retire after the 2012 Olympics in London this summer.

Phelps told Anderson Cooper Sunday during an interview on "60 Minutes". Phelps' coach thought there was a period when he wasn't sure if Phelps would make the London Olympics.

If Phelps can earn three medals this summer, he would retire as the athlete with the most medals in Olympic history.
