MADISON (WKOW) – Republican Governor Scott Walker defeated his opponent in the Republican primary recall race.
Walker beat Madison native and protester Arthur Kohl-Riggs with 96 percent of the vote. Walker is the third governor in U.S. history and the first in Wisconsin to face a recall election. It all goes back a little more than a year ago when public workers rallied across the state after Walker stripped collective bargaining rights from them.
Kohl-Riggs ran as a Republican, even though he protested against Walker and his initiatives for months. Kohl-Riggs says he ran as a progressive Republican in the spirit of Abraham Lincoln.
The general election for the recall race is June 5.
