Paralyzed woman completes London Marathon in bionic suit

LONDON (WKOW) -- A woman who was told she would never walk again has completed the London Marathon with the help of a "bionic" suit.

A horse-riding accident five years ago paralyzed Claire Lomas from the waist down. Since the London Marathon started two weeks ago, she's been walking about two miles a day.

She's the first person to complete any marathon using a robotic rewalk suit. Lomas says it was quite a challenge.

"The pavement has been quite difficult and the slopes, the erosion all adds to it," Lomas said. "Whereas like, when you're in the clinic environment, you're on a wooden flat surface."

Lomas raised tens of thousands of dollars for a spinal research charity.
