MADISON (WKOW) -- Sunday we'll thank our moms for all they do and maybe thrown in a gift or two. So what do moms really want for Mother's Day?
If kids ask mom what she wants, she'll tell them she just wants to spend time with her children. And for the most part, that is true! But there are a few other things too, and no, you do not have to get a big, expensive present. Sheila Aumann from Madison told us, "He always gets a gift, but I never remember that as much as what we did together that day."
So kids and dads: listen up. You have to start the day out right. Jess Gobel from Belleville told us if she could write out a list for her husband on Mother's Day, this is what it would say: "Let mom sleep in, have breakfast made, the house is clean."
Sleep - or at least rest - seemed to be a popular answer. "I would love to have my husband say, 'go to sleep, have some coffee, sit and read. I will take your daughter for the next 4 hours,'" Madison mom Josie Cooper told us.
And no working for mom. That includes around the house. Drea told us, "I actually work on Mother's Day, so maybe a day off would be nice." Josie added, "Most of the time I tag team with my husband he takes her and I do housework or I take her and he's doing work, so there's not a lot of time to myself."
And no matter what you may need on Sunday, don't tell mom about it. Josie told us the phrases she doesn't want to hear. "'Oh I need this Mama, help Mama, come here,' or 'Oops,' or the horrible 'Uh oh!' from the distant realms of the house."
No matter what you decide to do for mom, she'll love it. She always does.
