RACINE (WKOW) – A Racine woman was charged with child neglect after her 2-year-old son climbed onto a roof and fell off after she allegedly left him alone.
Racine police arrested 21-year-old Evelyn Hiler on Friday after a passer-by reportedly found the toddler bleeding from his face, back and legs and wandering outside at about 12:40 a.m.
Sgt. Marty Pavilonis told The Journal Times that the boy climbed onto the roof from a second-floor bedroom window and fell onto the sidewalk.
The toddler was taken to a local hospital. Police said his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The mother allegedly told police she went to the neighbor's house for a minute. Hiler was also charged with child neglect resulting in great bodily harm, second-degree reckless injury and second-degree reckless endangerment on Friday.
