APPLETON (WKOW) -- Jury selection is expected to begin Monday in the fraud trial against the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay.
The diocese was sued in 2008 by two brothers. They allege the diocese knew about a priest's abuse, but repeatedly transferred him without telling parishioners. The diocese says it had no knowledge that John Feeney had committed abuse.
Feeney was convicted of assaulting the two brothers, Troy and Todd Merryfield, while he worked at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom in 1978.
The Merryfields could testify and former and current bishops could also be potential witnesses.
Feeney has been defrocked and was recently released from prison.
