Fort Lee, N.J. (WKOW) – Police in Fort Lee, New Jersey, are issuing $85 jaywalking tickets to people who text while walking.
The change comes after three fatal pedestrian-involved accidents this year. The police chief says he hopes they will draw people's attention to the issue and make his town safer.
But some people are upset about the high cost of the tickets. So far, more than 117 tickets have been issued.
