Walker: Improved jobs numbers to be released

Posted:

OCONOMOWOC (WKOW) -- Gov. Scott Walker said improved jobs numbers will be released later this week.

During a campaign stop in Oconomowoc Monday, Walker said the update from the state Department of Workforce Development would show a better picture of his administration's push to create jobs.

At a campaign stop at UW-Milwaukee Monday, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett told reporters that Walker has "brought in a fiction writer" and will make up the improved numbers.

Walker promised in his 2010 campaign to create 250,000 jobs over four years, but 15 months into his term only 5,900 jobs had been created.

The recall election between Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Gov. Scott Walker is June 5.
