GLENDALE (WKOW) – Authorities responded to a house explosion just north of Milwaukee Saturday evening.

Fire officials said several people were injured, including one firefighter.  Two houses next door were also damaged in the explosion.

A Glendale police officer arrived quickly on sight and found the house engulfed in fire.  An elderly man in his eighties and his daughter were inside the home at the time.

Authorities said the father and daughter were taken to the hospital, as well as a neighbor and a passerby who tried to get the father and daughter out of the house.

A spokeswoman for Columbia St. Mary's said the man is in serious condition and the woman asked her condition not be released. Two police officers were treated for smoke inhalation and a fire fighter for heat exhaustion.

Officials said the cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
