Green County Sheriff warns of phone scam

GREEN COUNTY (WKOW) -- The Green County Sheriff's Department warns about a possible telephone scam.
 
The agency says an automated caller contacted numerous cell phone customers claiming their bank account had been compromised. The call asked for bank information.
 
Investigators say no credit company, bank or legitimate business will request a customer give personal information such as PINs, bank account numbers or Social Security numbers over the phone. Unless you call the bank yourself, police say to never give out personal information.
