MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) Superintendent Dan Nerad will interview to lead the Birmingham, Michigan school district.
Nerad is one of five candidates to be interviewed this week. The district includes Oakland County, one of the wealthiest areas in the state, as well as the school district of Detroit.
Last March, Nerad announced that he would leave his position with the Madison district in June 2013. He has been superintendent of the district since 2008.
At the time of his announcement, he was a candidate for the superintendent's position in Omaha, Nebraska. That job eventually went to someone else.
MMSD officials have already hired a consultant to help find a replacement for Nerad. They are currently looking at interim superintendent options.
