Bank scam alert

Posted:

PLATTEVILLE (WKOW) -- Authorities in Platteville want First National Bank members to be aware of a scam.

The Platteville Police Department says this consumer alert involves potential fraudulent use of debit card information.

Officials say they were notified by the First National Bank that members are receiving automated phone calls from "First National Bank Security" asking them to reactivate their debit card and to provide pass code numbers.

The bank has identified this as a scam and asks its members not to provide any personal information in response to these automated calls. First National Bank says it does not request any member information via automated calls.

If you have provided any information in response to a similar call, contact your local authorities and bank to report the details.
