Obama congratulates Romney on GOP nomination

WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- President Barack Obama called Mitt Romney to congratulate him on earning the Republican presidential nomination. Romney earned the title Tuesday after winning the Texas primary.

According to an Obama campaign spokesman, on Wednesday the President told Romney he looks forward to "an important and healthy debate about America's future."

The Obama campaign attacks Romney's record as Massachusetts governor. They say Massachusetts saw slow job growth and increased debt under Romney.

The Romney campaign calls attention to failed stimulus projects by the Obama administration.
