Middleton's Johnson scores 72 to advance to state boys golf tourney

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKOW) -- Middleton senior Mitch Johnson carded a low-round 72 to win a Division 1 sectional boys golf Wednesday in La Crosse.

Johnson's team fell to Onalaska by one stroke in a playoff, so the Cardinals will not advance to the state tournament.

Holmen won the event and also advances to state. 

Among individuals, Henry Klongland of Stoughton and Zach Gaugert of Waunakee qualified for the state tournament, which begins on Monday, June 4 at University Ridge Golf Course.
