23-year-old man dies in Columbia County Crash

Columbia County (WKOW) -- A 23-year-old Baraboo man died early Saturday morning in a 1-vechicle rollover crash in Columbia County.

The crash occurred on 1-90 westbound at mile marker 107 median near Portage.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the 1995 GMC was traveling westbound on 1-90 when the driver fell asleep. The vehicle then lost control and rolled onto the shoulder causing two of the four passengers to be ejected.

Authorities said, one of those ejected was killed, the second, 27-year-old Jesus Merino Peralta, from Baraboo, sustained non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to Divine Savior. Both men were not wearing seatbelts.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 27-year-old Mary Ann Blankenbeker, from Baraboo.

No charges have been filed; the crash is still under investigation.
