LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKOW) -- For the first time in recent memory, it was a beautiful day at the WIAA state track and field championships on Saturday. Without rain or scorching heat, the athletes only had to compete with one another.

In Division 2 110-meter hurdles, Dodgeville-Mineral Point's Austyn Whitlatch won the gold medal, finishing in 14.93 seconds. His team finished second behind Belleville/New Glarus.

On the girls' side Dodgeville-Mineral Point finished third as a team, behind second-place Platteville. DMP's Molly Hanson took home top honors in the 1600-meter run, edging Platteville's Tricia Serres by 0.57 seconds to win in 4 minutes, 54.8 seconds.

In the Division 1 girls 4x100m relay, Middleton's Kayla Stiles anchored the Cardinals to a silver medal behind Milwaukee King.

Southwestern's Brady Wilkerson in the blue won the Division 3 boys 100m dash in 10.89 seconds.

Finally, the Monroe boys capped off a great season with a big win in the 4x800 meter relay, setting a Division 2 state record with a winning time of 7 minutes, 50.13 seconds.
