Msn. Edgewood doubles team wins D2 state tennis title

MADISON (WKOW) -- Two of the four teams left standing in Saturday's WIAA state boys tennis tournament were from Madison Edgewood, and the Crusaders crowned the eventual Division 2 doubles champions, Ben Winding and Tyler Piddington.

Winding and Piddington beat Catholic Memorial brothers Matt and Mike Mirsberger in the semi-final round, 6-0, 6-3.

The Edgewood pair then advanced to the championship match, in which they beat Green Bay Notre Dame's Andrew Zimmermann and Brian Zak, 6-3, 6-2.

Edgewood's other doubles team, Scott Bauer and Alex Wolff, finished in fourth place.
