ROCK COUNTY (WKOW) -- Rock County authorities are asking for the public's help as they investigate the 2011 death of a 91-year-old woman.
Officials say they were called to West Hart Road in Turtle Township for a death investigation of Marjorie Sands. A family member found the 91-year-old dead in her home on September 18, 2011.
Authorities originally thought Marjorie had fallen and hit her head. The initial cause of death was "accidental blunt force trauma to the head."
Rock County officials say they received information several days later leading them to believe her death was not accidental.
Marjorie's body was exhumed and further forensic tests were performed. The forensic autopsy showed inconsistencies between her injuries and the original cause of death. The forensic pathologist then ruled the cause of death a homicide.
Authorities say after months of investigating, they're asking the public to help in solving this crime. Officials ask anyone with information about the homicide of Marjorie Sands can contact the Rock County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau at 608-757-7923, Janesville Area Crime Stoppers (JACS) at 608-756-3636, the Greater Beloit Area Crime Stoppers (BACS) at 608-362-7463, or text "CRIMES" (274637) keyword JACS or BACS then your message.
