APPLETON (WKOW) -- The Middleton baseball team saw its season come to an end on Tuesday with its 5-1 loss to Hartford Union in the state quarterfinals at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton. The Cardinals scored their only run in the first inning when Brian Lochner advanced home on a fielding error, after he hit a triple. Middleton had four base runners thrown out in the final four innings. Hartford Union pitcher John Sprtel had 7 strikeouts in 7 innings of work. Hartford Union advances to play Bay Port in the D1 semifinals.
