UPDATE: Monroe man dies in Green County crash

Posted:
TOWN OF SPRING GROVE (WKOW) -- Green County officials say a man has died after a motorcycle and a vehicle crash.

The crash happened Tuesday night around 9:30 p.m. The Green County Sheriff's Department says the vehicle and motorcycle crashed on STH 11 at County Highway G in the Town of Spring Grove.

Investigators say a 44-year-old Brodhead man was driving a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville west on Highway 11 and a 52-year-old Monroe man was driving the motorcycle heading east. Deputies say the car's driver turned south in front of the motorcycle. The motorcycle hit the rear passenger side of the car, throwing the driver of the motorcycle.

Another vehicle, a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban, was coming eastbound at that time, and the 70-year-old driver hit the motorcyclist and his motorcycle. The man died, and his motorcycle caught on fire.

There were two passengers in the SUV. No one in that vehicle or the Bonneville was hurt.

The motorcycle operator was wearing a helmet.

The crash is still under investigation, but deputies say a contributing factor to the crash is Failure to Yield the Right of Way.

The identities of those involved has not yet been released.
