
GRAND CHUTE, Wis (WKOW) – The Portage baseball team is onto the Division 2 state baseball championship game after beating Fox Valley Lutheran 7-2 in a state semifinal on Wednesday night. Pitcher Matt Bortz scattered three hits and struck out seven in a complete-game gem. Portage (21-6) advanced to meet the winner of the other semifinal game between Ellsworth and Racine St. Catherine's in the championship game on Thursday. The Warriors won the 2006 Division 2 state title in their only other state tournament appearance.
