Sun Prairie softball team advances to state semifinal

MADISON, Wis (WKOW) - The Sun Prairie softball team is moving on!  The Cardinals beat Franklin 10-0 in a Division One state quarterfinal Thursday afternoon at Goodman Diamond in Madison.

Junior pitcher Kristen Hoppman blasted a two-run home run and tossed a four-hit, six-inning shutout while striking out seven. The Cardinals (23-3) also pounded out 14 hits and scored in every inning except the second. Five players had two or more hits -- including Briana Peterson, Hoppman, Hannah Running, who each drove in two runs. 

Sun Prairie play Germantown (24-4) in a Division 1 semifinal game Friday at approximately 8 p.m
