MADISON (WKOW) -- The Monroe softball team fell 7-0 in the Division 2 state softball championship to Baldwin-Woodville. The Cheesemakers fell behind early, as the Blackhawks scored 4 runs in the top of the second, which included a Heidi Hinz three run homerun. Monroe's only softball state title came in 2003.
MADISON (WKOW) -- The Monroe softball team got past Plymouth late Thursday night with a 5-1 victory in the Division 2 semifinals. The Cheesemakers first got on the board in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Heather Barta drove in Kasey Gutzmer. Monroe will play Baldwin-Woodville for the D-2 title on Saturday at 3 pm from Goodman Diamond.
