Man killed in Jefferson Co. crash

TOWNSHIP OF OAKLAND (WKOW) -- A man has died after his car crashed into a tree.

Emergency crews responded shortly after 4 a.m. Friday to Highway C near Retzlaff Road.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says a car traveling west on Highway C crossed the centerline, slid through a ditch and struck a tree. The crash caused the vehicle to start on fire.

The driver, 36-year-old Jason Pruitt of Stoughton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
