MADISON (WKOW) -- The Sun Prairie softball team's rally in the top of the 7th inning of the Division I championship game came up just short, as the team fell 4-3 to Chippewa Falls. Sun Prairie was down to its final two outs of the game, when Cheyenne Holmes scored on a Jenna Dammen single and then Ellie Plonsky and Heidi Morrical brought their team within a single run, crossing the plate on a Chippewa falls throwing error. Chippewa Falls then recorded the final two outs, winning the championship. Sun Prairie ends its season state runners up, the best finish in program history.

MADISON (WKOW) -- In a game that ended well after midnight, Sun Prairie advanced to its first ever state championship game with its 6-3 win over Germantown Saturday morning. Cardinals' Kristen Hoppman hit a 2 run homerun in the top of the first inning to give Sun Prairie the lead, one that they never surrended. Hoppman also pitched 7 innings, allowing just one earned run. Sun Prairie will play for the Division 1 state title Saturday evening at 5:30 pm. The Sun Prairie baseball team won the state baseball title on Thursday.
