RACINE (WKOW) -- State elections officials have ordered a recount in a recall race that will determine which party controls the state Senate.

The Government Accountability Board asks the Racine County Board of Canvassers to begin the recount Wednesday at 9 a.m.

The recount comes at the request of Republican state Sen. Van Wanggaard.

Unofficial results show Wanggaard lost to Democratic challenger John Lehman.

Racine County will have until July 2 to complete the recount.
