MADISON (WKOW) -- The mother of a missing Madison man tells 27 News the 21-year-old was at an ATM before he disappeared and money was withdrawn.
"Stopped at the cash station, the ATM, and never made it to work," Donna Wise said of her missing son, Daniel Wise.
Wise's friend, Alex Kowalsky says $300 was withdrawn from Wise's account Wednesday.
Kowalsky says police officials have yet to confirm through surveillance video Wise carried out the transaction, or whether Wise made the withdrawal under duress. Police spokesperson Officer Howard Payne declined comment on the money withdrawal.
Kowalsky says Wise's disappearance is completely out of character.
Wise failed to show up for a scheduled work shift at Capitol Centre Foods. Owner Mitch Eveland says Wise is a reliable employee with no unannounced absences.
Kowalsky says Wise is a friendly person, who showed no signs of anything being out of the ordinary when the two of them and other friends watched an NBA Finals basketball game on TV Tuesday night.
Donna Wise says her son typically sends her text messages every day, but she has not received any messages since his disappearance.
"He always says, 'I love you, mom.' Just want to hear that again."
Wise says her son attended Madison College, but was enrolled for the fall semester at UW-Madison. However, UW-Madison spokesperson John Lucas says there's no record of Wise's enrollment, and he is not considered a student.
Wise previously attended Madison Memorial High School.
Payne says officers have searched Wise's North Bedford Street apartment and his downtown neighborhood.
Payne says Wise's disappearance is considered suspicious because he has no history of such behavior, and family members and friends says Wise is regularly in touch with them.
Wise's loved ones put up missing persons' flyers in downtown Madison, in hopes of receiving clues to his whereabouts.
Officials describe Wise as 6'03", 180 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a green short sleeve polo shirt, green baseball hat, and khaki shorts.
If anyone has any information about Daniel Wise's whereabouts, or has been in contact with him since Wednesday morning, contact the Madison Police Department 608-266-4316.
27 News' Tony Galli will have more on this developing story tonight on 27 News at 5 and 6.
