DANE COUNTY (WKOW) -- Authorities say two inmates staying at the Dane County Ferris Center face charges of substantial battery by an inmate after an incident over the weekend.

The Dane County Sheriff's Office say the incident happened around 8:20 p.m. on Saturday.

Officials say 20-year-old Julian Madaus, of Marshall, and 22-year-old Marcus Powell, of Madison, fought each other in a bathroom at the Ferris Center. The Ferris Center is a minimum-security facility for the Dane County Jail where inmates sentenced with work release stay.

According to a report, both men suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries after fighting. They were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Authorities say Madaus and Powell are on probation. Powell is currently serving a sentence for criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct and two counts of resisting.  Madaus is serving a sentence for burglary and theft.
