Police arrested a man Tuesday morning after a standoff at a home at 717 Tudor Drive in Janesville.
Janesville police say officers were dispatched to a report of a domestic incident at the home, where the alleged female victim reported that the male suspect had retreated to the basement to avoid contact with police and had armed himself with a crow bar.
Officers report the suspect, 45-year-old Francis Hatch, Jr., barricaded himself in a basement workshop and fortified the door when they tried to contact him.
According to the incident report, patrol officers at the scene gathered intelligence about hatch that led them to call in the SWAT team.
Negotiators convinced Hatch to come out of the home and surrender at 2:55 a.m.
Hatch is at the Rock County Jail pending an initial appearance in court.
He faces preliminary charges of Failure to Comply with a Lawful Order, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct Domestic Violence and Battery Domestic Violence
