UPDATE: Local communities announce burn bans

Posted:

LODI (WKOW) -- The City of Lodi declared an Emergency Condition of Fire Hazard Wednesday.

The declaration means there can not be any open burning whatsoever within the corporate limits of the city. That includes, burning yard waste in a pile, recreational fires of any kind, and fireworks (restricted or non restricted).

Charcoal and gas grills are allowed, as long as extreme caution is exercised. Officials ask that you attend the grill at all times, use the grill on a noncombustible surface, maintain significant clearance from any building and dispose of charcoal briquettes in a non combustible container. They say to not dump the ashes outdoors.

Smoking a pipe, cigar or cigarette in a designated area for businesses is allowed, officials say to use extreme caution when smoking outdoors within the city limits. They say to dispose of smoking materials in a non combustible receptacle or ashtray.
