MADISON (WKOW) -- Governor Walker Thursday promised more communication between state entities during state contract bid processes, after a Stevens Point firm received an offer of millions in tax incentives while competing with other companies on a $15 million project.
The offer to Skyward, Inc. came from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation and was contingent on Skyward winning the contract bid to create a statewide informations system for schools. Department of administration officials suspended the bid process after learning of the offer earlier this month.
A March letter with the incentives offer to a Skyward representative from a WEDC official was copied to Governor Walker. But DOA spokesperson Jocelyn Webster said Walker did not receive the copy, and became aware of the incentives offer July 11.
The bid process for the statewide student informations system project will resume next month.
