FITCHBURG (WKOW) -- We're learning more about 25-year-old Samuel Harris, the Dubuque, Iowa man killed in a murder in Fitchburg.

Harris graduated from Hempstead High School in 2005. He later joined the U.S. Marine Corps and recently received his honorable discharge after five years of service.

In his obituary, Harris' family writes that Sam enjoyed life and lived every day to the fullest.

Harris was shot and killed June 26 at an apartment building on Leopold Way in Fitchburg.

Authorities say Harris was in the area for a proposed drug deal that went wrong.

One man, 21-year-old Bobby Hogans, has been charged in the death. Two other men, Daniel Owens and Roberto Poindexter, have been arrested in the case, but neither has made a court appearance.
