Wounded Warriors Amputee Softball team will play in WI

FOND DU LAC (WKOW) -- A group of military veterans are playing softball not just to stay in shape, but to inspire people across the country.

Campbellsport native Josh Wege was hurt by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan in 2009. He's a double amputee from the waist down, but he's not letting that stop him.

His injuries helped him become the first baseman for the wounded warriors amputee softball team.

"My normal beforehand included sports and this team has filled in that gap," Wege said. "It's given me that competitive nature again and gave me that camaraderie that sports gives you."

The team will play in Fond du Lac on Saturday for a fundraiser. Wege hopes he and other amputees across the country can make a difference and inspire others to keep their spirits high and support each other in tough times.
