CUDAHY (WKOW) -- The driver of a car involved in a 4th of July parade accident in Cudahy is still in the hospital with heatstroke; but word is, he'll be okay.
And the man he hit is giving thanks.
Brad Smith was carrying the flag in Wednesday's parade when he was hit by the car behind him.
Police say the driver was overcome by the heat and his foot hit the accelerator.
Smith says the passenger in the car saved the day by pulling the driver's foot off the pedal.
Smith says he's thankfully he's only bruised and sore.
The hospital sent him home with painkillers.
Cudahy police say the driver won't be ticketed because a medical condition led to the accident.
