Concerned citizen saves life of woman during extreme heat
MADISON (WKOW) -- The life of an 85-year-old Madison woman was likely saved by the actions of a concerned citizen.
Madison police say a 53-year-old citizen had been assisting the woman who lives in a second floor apartment on East Washington Avenue. They contacted Madison police Saturday, July 7 after failing to reach the older woman by phone and by ringing her door bell.
The woman does not drive and her apartment does not have air conditioning. All of this lead to the property manager taking police to her apartment. The woman was found unresponsive on her bathroom floor.
She was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for heat-related problems.
