CASSVILLE (WKOW) -- Grant County deputies arrest a man after he claims to have been stabbed by a drug dealer.
Around 12:15 a.m. Friday, investigators say Derek Pohle, 32, went to his parents home on East Amelia Street and told them he had been stabbed twice in the stomach. When officers got there, they found Pohle had two small, minor cuts. Pohle claimed to investigators he was stabbed by a drug dealer his ex-wife had sent.
Pohle was taken to the Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster.
In the meantime, police say Pohle refused to let law enforcement into his home to investigate the reported stabbing. After looking into it further, officers found no evidence the crime even happened.
Pohle was arrested on a probation hold and warrant out of Platteville. Investigators say it appears he had also been drinking and because he had driven his truck, backwards, to his parents' house, Pohle was also arrested for OWI, 2nd offense. Officers say he hit a tree and caused severe damage to his truck.
Pohle was released by the hospital and taken to the Grant County Jail.
