WAUSAU (WKOW) -- The Canoe Slalom World Championships wrapped up Sunday afternoon.

The five-day event started on Wednesday in Wausau, and drew more than 200 athletes from 35 countries around the world.

For four people, it was a warm up for this month's Olympic Games in London.

Next to the Olympics, this is the biggest event in the sport.

Thousands lined the shores of the Wisconsin River at Whitewater Park to watch the athletes compete for the title of world champion.
