Madison company installs wind turbine

MADISON (WKOW) -- A Madison company is now harnessing the wind to power its operations in town.

Werner Electric Supply tipped up a wind turbine at its facility on Pflaum Road. Werner says the turbine will produce enough energy to cover 10 to 15 percent of the company's usage.

It's all part of Werner's green initiative.

"We're putting solar cells and that type of thing up, in addition just to download our electrical usage that we would have here if we weren't able to use these alternative sources," says Lynn MacDonald, President and CEO of Werner Electric Supply.

MacDonald says it hopes to eventually become self-sufficient when it comes to energy.
