MADISON (WKOW) -- Authorities say a Madison man who was murdered in the deadly end to a love triangle suffered 21 stab wounds.

Craig O'Donnell's alleged killer, 26-year-old Matthew O'Dell, appeared in Dane County Court  Thursday afternoon on a first degree intentional homicide charge.

A criminal complaint states O'Dell went to the north side Madison mobile home of his former girlfriend on June 30, and confronted O'Donnell, her boyfriend.

The complaint states the men exchanged punches and fought. Authorities allege O'Dell went into the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and then on the porch of the mobile home, stabbed O'Donnell.

The complaint states O'Donnell was stabbed in the neck and other parts of the body, with a total of 21 wounds.

A court commissioner set O'Dell's bail at $750,000.

Last year, O'Dell received a probation term, after going to his former girlfriend's mobile home, arguing with her, and arming himself with a knife, before police officers arrested him.
