MADISON (WKOW) -- Because of our recent rain, the Department of Natural Resources is lifting burning restrictions in some counties.
Restrictions will be relaxed at 12:01 a.m. Saturday in all or parts of Crawford, Dane, Grant, Iowa, Richland and Sauk counties that are within DNR protection areas.
Campfire bans will be lifted at Big Foot Beach, Lapham Peak, Richard Bong State Recreation Area, the Southern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest, and the Elroy-Sparta State Trail.
Emergency burning restrictions remain in place in 11 counties including Adams, Columbia, Green Lake, Marquette, Portage, Waupaca and Waushara counties, and portions of Jackson, Juneau, Monroe and Wood counties.
Campfires are allowed but some burning restrictions remain in place in Buckhorn, Hartman Creek, Mill Bluff, and Roche-A-Cri state park properties.
