REEDSBURG (WKOW) -- Police say George R. Snake, 24, of Reedsburg and Cheyenne T. Fiddler, 23, of Red Wing, MN are both dead in an apparent murder-suicide at a Reedsburg home.
Reedsburg police believe Snake shot and killed Fiddler after an argument early Friday morning, and then turned the gun on himself. A friend found the bodies Friday evening. The two were declared dead on scene.
Neighbors like Bill McKenzie knew something wasn't right Friday night.
"It was quite hectic, lots of police were around, people were crying. We couldn't see anything, we didn't know what was going on in the house," says McKenzie.
McKenzie says he didn't really know the couple well, but he thought they seemed friendly, and never showed aggression towards one another.
Fiddler had recently moved into the home with Snake.
Officials believe alcohol was a factor in the incident, however toxicology results will not be available for several weeks.
Authorities are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths. Police say because their preliminary investigation revealed it was a murder-suicide, the search for suspects is over, although they will continue looking into what triggered the incident.
