JANESVILLE (WKOW) — Janesville Police arrest a Beloit man after he flees from the police on vehicle and foot early Sunday morning.
A sergeant with the Janesville Police Department saw a minor traffic accident in a municipal parking lot at 16 N. Park Drive around 2:119 a.m.
As the sergeant approached, both vehicles involved in the accident left the lot at a high rate of speed. Authorities said the vehicles turned onto E. Milwaukee Street and then went south onto S. River Street.
Authorities said officers stopped one of the vehicles, an Oldsmobile Alero, driven by Brittany E. Forslund, 25-year-old of Janesville, and arrested her for OWI 1st offence.
Police said the operator of the second vehicle, a gold Chevrolet Silverado, accelerated away at a high rate of speed. Authorities followed the vehicle, which started to disregard any traffic signs.
Authorities said the truck sped away from officers and turned into Monterey Park. The operator proceeded onto the bike trail towards the Monterey Rock.
Officials said the officers converged into the park so the operator left the bike trail and crossed into oncoming traffic on Center Avenue near Riverside Street.
Authorities said an officer followed the truck on Riverside Street. The operator crossed back over Rockport Road towards W. Racine Street and eventually fled from the vehicle with a passenger on foot from the dead end of W. Racine Street and S. Walnut Street.
Officials said Janesville Officers set a perimeter in the area. The officers located the driver running westbound behind Janesville Brick and Tile. The officers captured the driver behind the businesses in the 1800 block of W Court Street.
Authorities identified the driver as Christopher C. Winchester of Beloit. The 24-year-old was arrested on numerous charges.
Authorities identified the passenger in the truck as Quinn C. Riggs of Janesville. The 25-year-old was arrested for resisting arrest and possession of THC.
