MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison La Follette grad Max Hosking won his third Madison Men's City Golf Championship in four years, shooting a 2-under 70 in Sunday's final round. Hosking finished 4-under overall, winning the tournament by five strokes. John Stravinski entered Sunday sharing the lead with Hosking, but he shot 3-over on Sunday, finishing the tournament in a tie for second place with Michael Murphy at 1-over par.
Hosking won the tournament in 2009 and 2010, and says 2012 will be his last city tournament, as he plans to turn pro after this year's golf season. Hosking joins six other golfers who have won the tournament three times.
"I try to win every tournament regardless of how big or small it is," Hosking said. "It's not the biggest tournament I play in every year, but it's one of the bigger ones in the area, everyone knows about it. I really wanted to win and I knew I could if I played well. I'm just happy I came out on top."
