Bees thrive in central Wisconsin

Posted:

WAUSAU (WKOW) -- Folks in central Wisconsin have been experiencing a bit more buzzing this summer. That's because queen bees are expanding their reign.

Experts don't have solid numbers, but say these weather conditions are helping insects survive. Bees have an easier time surviving mild winters and because of the dry hear, there's no water to wash away their hives.

The insects have been bugging a lot of people in the Wausau area and store managers say repellent has been flying off the shelves.
