Monona manufacturing plant to shut down

MONONA (WKOW) -- The parent company of a Monona manufacturing plant that will shut down in 2014 says it will help employees with the transition process.

Here is the statement from Director of Corporate Communications, Colleen White:

"BD announced that it intends to close its Madison, Wisconsin facility by the end of March 2014. The manufacturing operations will be integrated into an existing BD plant in Baltimore, Maryland. The facility closing will impact 135 employees.

The decision to close the Madison plant was a difficult, but necessary, business decision. BD is making every effort to treat the affected employees with the respect they deserve. In addition to severance, these employees will receive career transition assistance and other support."

MONONA (WKOW) -- A Monona manufacturing plant will shut down in March 2014, impacting dozens of workers.

Becton, Dickinson & Company tells 27 News it plans to close its facility on Industrial Drive in Monona. The director of BD Corporate Communications, Colleen White, says the shut-down will affect 135 workers. Most of the workers will stay at the plant until March 2014.

The facility in Monona makes media for BD Diagnostics.
