GREEN BAY, Wis (WKOW) - The Packers held their annual Family Night Friday night at Lambeau Field. It's basically a glorified scrimmage but it didn't stop over 55,000 fans from invading the legendary stadium. On the first drive of the night, the Packers mixed the run with James Starks and Alex Green with the right arm of NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers. After a 24-yard pass to TE Jermichael Finley moved the ball to the 4-yard line, the Packers scored two plays later when Starks scored on a run. After the TD, the offensive line did the Lambeau Leap. They were flagged for a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty.
After the TD, the Packers set up for a 36-yard field goal, which Mason Crosby made. Crosby then followed with a 40-yard field goal. In warmups, Crosby hit a 60-yard field goal in the same direction, towards the north end zone. On the next drive, Graham Harrell opened under center and was replaced by B.J. Coleman. The rookie drove the ball inside the defense's 40-yard line but it stalled with an incomplete pass on fourth down. On the fourth drive, Aaron Rodgers returned and made it count. After slipping in between two pass rushers, Rodgers found WR Greg Jennings for a 33-yard touchdown strike. The scrimmage ended with the non-kickers attempting to kick field goals. Offensive lineman T.J. Lang made a 20-yarder. Defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove had his shot and missed. Lang stepped back and missed from 25 yards. Jarius Wynn tried from 25 yards and the defensive lineman missed badly. Lang followed with a bad miss from 27 yards and then Hargrove missed. Lang missed again from 27 yards and DL Daniel Muir missed horribly from 27 yards. Lang finally made another one, splitting the uprights from 32 yards with ease. Hargrove returned and missed again from 32 yards. End of scrimmage.
The Packers will be off on Saturday and will return to the practice field Sunday night at 7 p.m. The first preseason game is Thursday at San Diego.
