Source: Gunman was Army veteran; possible white supremacist - WKOW 27: Madison, WI Breaking News, Weather and Sports

OAK CREEK (WKOW) -- The gunman who killed six people and hurt three others during a shooting at a Sikh temple near Milwaukee was an Army veteran who may have been a white supremacist. That's what a law enforcement source involved in the investigation told CNN.

The name of the shooter may be released Monday morning, the source added. A news conference is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. in Oak Creek at the police station.

The gunman opened fire at a Sikh Temple in Oak Creek Sunday morning, killing six people and injuring three others, including a police officer. Another officer returned fire and killed the shooter.

The FBI says it has not determined a motive for the shooting, but investigators were looking into whether the attack was an act of domestic terrorism. A spokesman for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Tom Ahern, said the gunman had a military background but would not elaborate.
