RIPON, Calif. (WKOW) --Imagine losing your high school sweetheart's class ring and nearly 40 years later, it finally turns up.
That's what happened to Tim Brunnel of Ripon, California. He and then-girlfriend, (now-wife) Nancy Den Dulk swapped class rings. But Tim lost her ring while playing high school football.
Tim says every time he went onto the field he'd look down on the grass and hope to find it. But when crews were working on the field, they found the ring, which said 1974.
"They take the sod off and brought dirt in, they've been trenching and it's just unbelievable to think that they found it," Nancy said.
Surprisingly, the ring was found in tact and with barely a scratch on it even though thousands of football games have been played on the field.
