Female NFL ref’s hat & whistle to go into Football Hall of Fame

SAN DIEGO (WKOW) -- Although the Green Bay Packers lost their first preseason game to the San Diego Chargers, it was a win for Shannon Eastin, the first female to referee an NFL game.

Her hat and whistle will go into the football hall of fame. Eastin is part of the NFL replacement referees since the actual NFL refs are in a lockout. Players say Eastin did well, as expected.

"It's interesting to see a woman being involved because of the physicality of this game, but she held her own she did a phenomenal job and I think as professionals you just respect people who understands their craft and they do the best they can at what they do," said Chargers Tight End Antonio Gates.

When the referee lockout ends, Eastin's time on the professional football field may end as well...at least for now.
