FITCHBURG (WKOW) -- Authorities have released the name of the suspect in Monday's Fitchburg stabbing incident.
Early Monday morning, officials responded to an apartment on the 5100 block of Anton Drive for the report of a stabbing.
Once officers arrived, they found a six-year-old girl with stab wounds to her chest and back. She was transported to a local hospital. Officials say she's in critical condition, however she is expected to recover.
Officials say the girl's mother, 30-year-old Tasha Harmon, admitted to stabbing her daughter. Harmon was also hospitalized for self-inflicted stab wounds. She is still in the hospital and is in serious, but stable condition.
Police say anticipated criminal charges of attempted 1st degree intentional homicide against Harmon will be referred to the Dane County district attorney.
Officials say this incident remains under investigation. Anyone who may have information related to this incident should contact the Fitchburg Police Department at 608-270-4300.
